Besancon in eastern France the capital and principal city of the French-Comté region. It is an ancient city built in an oxbow of the Doubs River, with settlement tracing back to the Gauls in 1500 BC. Anyone who loves their cheese will know of the cheese if not the region, I'm here to see the Montbeliard cattle from which the Comté cheese is made.
Doubs River, with La Citadelle, one of the towns many fortifications in the back ground.
